Manchester United Defender Rejects New Long-Term Deal

|

With the January transfer window now open, it remains to be seen just what level of activity Manchester United get involved in.

However, although it is just the first day of the month, speculation is starting to appear in abundance, much to the delight of this amateur hack.

One piece of speculation that has emerged this morning relates to our young 22-year-old defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

According to The Mirror, Fosu-Mensah has rejected a new three-and-a-half-year deal and is looking to leave Old Trafford.

The youngster is desperate to play first-team football on a regular basis, something that has not happened for the defender, at Old Trafford, this season where he has started just one Premier League game and has made two appearances, off the bench, in the Champions League.

Interest, it would seem, in the defender is already starting to mount with Sky Sports reporting that both Marseille and Hertha Berlin would be willing to offer Manchester United a small fee to secure the services of the Academy product who, during his time with the club, has sampled life on loan at both Fulham and Crystal Palace.

It is always a little sad to lose an Academy product, but it has to be accepted that not everybody can come through the Academy and secure regular first-team football.
