Man United man starts for Brazil

Casemiro starts for Brazil in their Round of 16 clash against South Korea, which kicks off at 7pm UK time.

Casemiro will partner West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta at the heart of the Brazil midfield and there is also a return for star striker Neymar, who is fit again to take his place in the Brazil starting XI just behind Tottenham’s Richarlison.

The Manchester United number 18 returns to the Brazil line-up after being rested for Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Cameroon, where a Vincent Aboubakar goal in stoppage time sealed the win for the African side.

Brazil will be hoping to return to winning ways and secure their berth in the quarter final stage after resting a number of key players in the defeat to Cameroon.

Casemiro is the only Man United player who is playing for Brazil as both Antony and Fred are on the bench, having started Brazil’s final group stage match.

Even though Fred and Antony are not starting tonight, they could still feature for Brazil from the substitute bench and provide a different dimension to the Brazil team.

They might also get some minutes should Brazil have the game in control and that their passage is all but secure.

Alex Telles does not make the match day squad because he sustained an injury during the defeat to Cameroon, meaning that his participation in the World Cup is now sadly over.

The winner between Brazil and South Korea will meet Croatia, who knocked out Japan on penalties in the first of two of Monday’s games at the FIFA World Cup.
