Man United legend heaps praise on United loanee

Ahead of Middlesbrough’s game against Sunderland today, Boro boss, Michael Carrick has heaped praise on Amad Diallo, who is loan at Sunderland from Manchester United. 

The Ivorian has been in terrific form for the Black Cats, scoring six times in the Championship this season and registering one assist [Transfermarkt] as he aims to help Sunderland secure a play-off spot in the EFL Championship.

Amad won the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for December, after he scored three goals for Tony Mowbray’s side in the final month of the calendar as he netted against Millwall, West Brom and Wigan Athletic, which has propelled Sunderland into the promotion mix, even though they are 10th in the table, the Championship is such a congested league with Sunderland just three points behind West Brom in 6th [EFL].

One player that no doubt knows about Amad can bring to the table is his former United coach and now Middlesbrough Head Coach, Carrick and before North East derby, the former United midfielder had some positive things to say about forward.

“I know Amad very well from United. He’s a terrific footballer and seems to have jumped up a level again from the start of the season.

“His performances have improved and he is a threat. Not just Amad though, right across the frontline Sunderland have really good individuals who can change games at any moment and cause you problems.

“That’s why they’re up there at the moment and they are a danger. That’s a challenge, of course, but it’s one we’re ready for and we’re looking forward to the game” [via Manchester Evening News]
