It’s A Flying Start For Solksjaer And The Chase Is Now On

|

In his first game in charge, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer got off to the perfect start.

A 5-1 win, away to Cardiff, is the kind of dream start the Norwegian would have wished for.

But it does beg the question as to why, under Solksjaer, some players who had under-performed for Jose Mourinho, looked world-beaters playing for Ole, but that’s a debate for another time.

Now, it is essential that every effort is made to string together a run of results that can lift the club into a position where they belong, the top-four and a place in the Champions League next season.

Over the years, Manchester United, especially under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson, were famous for their impeccably strong finish to a season.

Often, Manchester United came back from the dead to land honours.

Following the 5-1 thrashing of Cardiff City, that was exactly the point Ole made to the media with the Norwegian remarking, as reported by the BBC:

“We have caught teams up before at this club.

“I don’t want to look too far ahead but Manchester United teams always play well in the second half of the season.”

The chase is on!

Now where have I heard that expression before?
