Full-back ‘likely to leave in January’ – Dean Jones

|

According to transfer expert Dean Jones, one player who is ‘likely to leave in January’ is right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he lost his place in the United starting XI to Diogo Dalot.

Wan-Bissaka might not be the only one who leaves Old Trafford this winter after Cristino Ronaldo gave an astonishing attack on the club in his reveal-it-all interview with journalist Piers Morgan, which could pave the way for an Old Trafford exit for the Portuguese.

What is the news surrounding Wan-Bissaka?

During the summer, it was reported by the Mirror, that Aaron Wan-Bissaka was told that he was free to find a new club as he did not feature in the Erik ten Hag’s plans.

There is talk from the BBC that Wan-Bissaka could make a return to Crystal Palace, where it all began for the man from Croydon, however, it did not materialise.

The Athletic also reported that during the closing stages of the summer transfer window that Palace and West Ham were interested in the United right-back, however, those attempts were rebuffed because United would not have had enough time to secure a replacement.

Due to the resurgence of Diogo Dalot, who it can be argued has been Man United’s most improved player this season, it has meant that Wan-Bissaka has found opportunities hard to come by this season.

Wan-Bissaka, who joined United in 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for £50 million has not been helped due to injuries and illness this season as he attempts to force his way back into ten Hag’s plans.

What did Jones say about Wan-Bissaka?

Jones told GiveMeSport that he does not see a long-term future for Wan-Bissaka, who earns a reported 100,000-a-week at United.

“Wan-Bissaka was struggling to prove he had a future at the club even before the weekend, but when there was no sign of him at Fulham, it felt like the final sign we needed that he’ll be leaving in January.

“He’s played four minutes all season and the club will now have to accept that there will be a financial hit on accepting defeat over he won’t be living up to his £50m transfer.”
