What Ronaldo’s comments could mean for the Glazers

|

For the last 17 years, Manchester United fans have been desperate for the Glazer family to sell the club and Ronaldo’s comments could spell the end game for the Americans.

It can be argued that the Glazers are a huge reason as to why the club has declined so badly over the past few years, overspending on players and not investing in the infrastructure of the club. The club have not win a league title since 2013, which shows that the owners have underperformed.

There have been numerous protests at the end of last season and this season as the fans’ anger towards the American owners grows because it can be argued that United should be challenging at the top and not accepting top four finishes year in year out.

United fans have needed a voice in their attempts to dismantle the Glazer ownership, and a lot of it has come from former captain, Gary Neville, who has been a vocal critic of the Glazers during this summer and the European Super League fiasco when working for Sky as a TV pundit.

However, even though it is understandable that players or coaches do not go against their employers, United fans would have welcomed the recent comments about Cristiano Ronaldo about the ownership, even though what he said about the manager in his exclusive interview did not sit right with the United fans.

Ronaldo complained that the facilities at Carrington were not up to an elite level and that he was bemused at the fact that they had not improved much since he had left back in 2009 during his interview with Piers Morgan. There has also been a lack of investment at Old Trafford, which from the inside looks unbelievable but from the outside it looks rusty and needs upgrading.

“Since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero.”

Ronaldo could not also understand the United’s hierarchy’s thinking of hiring Ralf Rangnick as interim manager last season as he could not fathom how a sporting director, who he had not heard of, could become the manager of Manchester United.

“If you’re not even a coach, how are you going to be the boss of Man Utd? I’d never even heard of him” Ronaldo told Piers Uncensored.

The fact that a key asset for the Glazers, Ronaldo, spoke out against them spoke volumes because he is the one player that can generate a high volume of income because of his superstar status.

Piers Morgan has told TalkSport that there will be more to come from the Portuguese as he is “not impressed” with the Glazer family.

My opinion is that this interview by Ronaldo could be the tipping point for the Glazers because they do not have much or any cash to help fund United, which is not something they like doing as according to Swiss Ramble, they have not put a single penny into the club, but have took dividends out of the club, which is extremely dispiriting as a United fan, who regularly saw the club winning silverware after silverware.

Ronaldo questioned the decision-making of the Glazers and the fact that they have not invested enough to get the club to an elite level should raise alarm-bells if it not already had done. United fans can see the damage that the Glazers have done to this great club, but let’ss hope that Ronaldo’s interview can remove them out of the club as his voice is heard globally.
