“United won’t be Busy in January”- John Murtough

Manchester United Director of football John Murtough has said that Manchester United “won’t be busy in January.”

Manchester United Telegraph writer James Ducker has written that John Murtough has said at the latest fans forum that the club will not be “busy” in January but will look to sign a striker.

The United director of football further went on to say that United are “already well under with planning for next summer.”[James Ducker]

Ducker who is close to the club also mentioned that the planning for next summer could be affected by the sale of the club with the Glazers looking for new owners to buy the club.

United also want to look at low cost loan options to buy players in this January transfer window, this is why the loan deals linking Joao Felix and Memphis Depay to Old Trafford will probably not happen.

The Wout Weghorst deal makes the most sense for manager Erik Ten Hag with him still being able to bring in players he still wants to bring in but on much a lower budget after the spending that the club made in the summer.

As United were one of the big spenders in the summer transfer window spending over £200 million on Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Antony and a loan fee for Martin Dubravka.

Information that has come out of the club in the last two months is that the Glazers would look to confirm the sale of United to a buyer by spring which would mean that the Red Devils could have another big spending transfer window this summer.
