Reports that appeared in the media yesterday suggested that somebody, on the Manchester United scouting team got their wires crossed in midweek.

According to the popular red-top publication, The Sun, a Manchester United scout, was tasked with watching the recent international that involved Iceland and the Czech Republic.

The scout duly applied to the Icelandic Football Association and was promptly issued with a ticket.

But, and this is where everything started to go wrong for the scout, upon arriving at the national stadium in Reykjavik, was astonished to discover the gates locked and the floodlights turned off.

His astonishment turned to embarrassment when he discovered that the game between Iceland and the Czech Republic was actually being played in Qatar, some 5,500 miles away.

As an aside, it isn`t revealed who Manchester United had sent the scout to watch!
