The grapevine, relating to Manchester United adding a defender to their squad, continues to generate possible names.

However, the latest name isn’t somebody who is as well-known as several who have been mentioned already, giants of the European game.

The player in question is currently participating in the Championship and is establishing himself as somebody who could go all the way in the game.

His name is Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey is just 21-years-of-age and is currently on the books of Norwich City.

According to the tabloid publication, the Mirror, both Manchester United and Arsenal sent scouts to Carrow Road today, to watch the player, who is rated at £10 million, in action.

Could Manchester United have unearthed a youngster who could save the club an awful lot of money, or does it remain to be seen whether his undoubted potential can flourish at the highest level?

Here at Vital Manchester United, we’ll endeavour to keep an eye out for any developments and report back as deemed necessary.
