As the third day starts in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar let’s have a look at which Manchester United players are playing today.

Argentina vs Saudi Arabia 10 am- Lusail Iconic Stadium

United defender Lisandro Martinez will play his first-ever World Cup game for Argentina, making his senior debut on March 22nd, 2019 [transfermarkt] it has been a long time coming for Martinez to play in a World Cup.

Two years after Diego Maradona passed away, this will be Argentina’s first World Cup without the legend in the stands watching his country, with Martinez talking about how Maradona will be there in spirit in Qatar.

Martinez says “It is still an enormous sadness that Diego left us so suddenly. The truth is that it was a very hard blow. Without doubt, Diego should be in Qatar to encourage us, be with us, support us. It is hard, but we have to believe that he’s with us in this place. We have to see it that way.”[Mirror]

Denmark vs Tunisia 1:00 pm- Education City Stadium

Christian Eriksen will participate in his fourth World Cup today if he plays against Tunisia, being such a vital part of United’s squad this season, he also looked up to in the Danish national squad due to his success with the national team.

It will be an emotional game for the midfielder after the last tournament he competed in he had a cardiac arrest, in the Euros last year but when the Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand was asked about what type of person Eriksen is.

He said “He is a fantastic player but an even better person. It’s just a pleasure to work with Christian.”[BBC Sport]

France vs Australia 19:00- Al Janoub Stadium

Raphael Varane was selected by Didier Deschamps, as France start their World Cup defence against Australia.

The former Real Madrid player suffered a femoral bicep injury in October against Chelsea and was a doubt for the World Cup but he has made it to Qatar and will look to be in the starting 11.

However, Les Bleus have got some big names out of the World Cup including Benzema, Nkunku, Kante, Kimpembe and former United player Paul Pogba.
