United ‘keeper nominated for award

|

Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea has been nominated for the Premier League’s ‘Save of the Month award’.

The Spaniard has been nominated for the accolade for his save during United’s 2-1 win in November against Fulham as he pulled off an excellent save to deny a Tim Ream header that looked like it was heading into the back of the net before de Gea pulled off an excellent save to deny the Fulham man from close range as he turned it over the crossbar.

United went on to beat Fulham 2-1, thanks to a last minute winner from 18-year-old, Alejandro Garnacho.

You may be wondering as to why de Gea is nominated for a save in November as December has just passed, but because the World Cup was pencilled in between the middle of November and December, the Premier League did the common sense thing and combined the performance’s of the players from the month of November and December, so that there was a good number of games to measure players on.

De Gea kept a clean sheet in United’s previous Premier League game as the Reds beat the Cherries 3-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, and in beating the Cherries, de Gea recorded his eighth clean sheet of the season in the Premier League so far.

Next up for United in the Premier League is a home clash against Manchester City at Old Trafford on January the 14th.
