Manchester United defender Raphael Varane is a World Cup finalist, after he helped France beat Morocco 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Mbappe has scored as many goals as Morocco at the World Cup

Theo Hernandez scored in the 5th minute, as France worked the ball well into the box and with Morocco not being able to clear the ball, Hernandez shot into the ground, to make it harder for the Morocco goalkeeper Bounou to judge the flight of the ball.

Azzedine Ounahi went close through a shot outside the box, minutes after the French opened the scoring.

Didier Deschamp’s side had two chances through Olivier Giroud’s chance and a counterattack by Mbappe saw his shot blocked off the line amid the danger for Morocco Giroud had his shot go wide of the left post, as the North Africans looked increasingly like they were losing their grip on the game.

Defender Jawad El Yamiq attempted an overhead kick which hit the post and was saved by Hugo Lloris just before halftime.

Former Southampton player, Sofiane Boufal ran the first part of the second half as Walid Regragui’s team had the best chances at the start of the second half, as they looked to set the tone for the rest of the game.

In the 78th minute Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani finished off a well-built attack which started from a brilliant piece of skill that Kylian Mbappe created and from his deflected pass to Kolo Muani, France looked like they had just secured their place in the final.

Morocco were the better team in the dying embers of the game with the best chance coming from winger Abde Ezzalzouli with an outstanding run as they should’ve scored but Kounde blocked the ball on the line.

The referee Cesar Ramos blew for full time as the French players celebrated with their fans as they head into back-to-back World Cup finals, with the last country to do that being Brazil in 1958 and 1962.
