Predicted XI to take on Crystal Palace

|

Crystal Palace take on Manchester United at Selhurst Park, with the game kicking off at 8pm UK time on Wednesday, and this article predict the Starting XI that Erik ten Hag might select for tonight’s encounter at Selhurst Park.

David de Gea – I expect de Gea to start in goal as has been the case throughout the season. The United number 1 did not have much to do against Manchester City, who only had one shot on target in the whole game.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Diogo Dalot missed the game against City on Saturday because of injury, so I think the game against the Eagles might come a bit too soon for the Portuguese. Therefore, with that in mind, I would start Wan-Bissaka at right-back against his former club and he could also be effective against Wilfred Zaha.

Harry Maguire – Even though tonight’s game is important, I would like to think ten Hag has one eye on the game against Arsenal on Sunday at the Emirates, which means that I would give Raphael Varane a rest because he is so important to this United team and start Maguire.

Lisandro Martinez – Alongside Maguire, I would start Martinez in what is still a strong looking centre-back pairing for United, and this is a game that might suit the pair as ten Hag’s side are likely to have a lot of the ball.

Luke Shaw – Despite, performing outstandingly well on Saturday against City at centre-back, I would consider reverting Shaw back to his original position. I would also give Tyrell Malacia a rest because he will be needed against the Gunners, as he stopped Riyad Mahrez successfully, and there is no reason as to why he cannot do that against Bukayo Saka.

Casemiro – This game is significant and even though Casemiro is walking a tightrope because if he gets booked then he will miss the Arsenal game, I would still start him and if United are comfortable in the second half, then I would substitute the Brazilian.

Christian Eriksen – With United likely to have most of the ball, I would start Eriksen as he can dictate the tempo of the game, and help create chances through his passing.

Antony – I would consider starting Antony as he did not play in the Manchester derby, so he will be fresh for tonight and he has also been amongst the goals in recent weeks.

Bruno Fernandes – The United number 8 was brilliant in and out of possession during the win over Pep Guardiola’s side and he will important tonight if United are to get the win that they need at Selhurst Park, so it is critical that Fernandes starts.

Marcus Rashford – It would not surprise me if ten Hag decides to start Rashford, even though he played through the pain barrier against City on Saturday. However, United should be careful with Rashford’s fitness so if United are in control, then I would take off Rashford ahead of the visit to Arsenal on Sunday.

Anthony Martial – This choice is a difficult one because ten Hag has stressed the importance of every game, but I think it will have helped Martial’s recovery that he was taken off at half-time during the City game, so the Dutchman, might give him 60 minutes and bring on Wout Weghorst because the Frenchman is extremely important to this United side.
