Player ratings from Everton win

|

David de Gea – 5/10: The Manchester United ‘keeper should have done a lot better for the Everton but he produced two good saves later in the match.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10: Looked rusty and it showed as he was making his first start since the World Cup. Will hopefully get better as he gets more matches but he has serious competition with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, did well to stop an Everton attack past the hour mark.

Raphael Varane – 7/10: Was solid at centre-back once again and showing why Erik ten Hag is desperate to keep him fit. Passed and progressed the ball well.

Luke Shaw – 6/10: Wasn’t at his fluent best against Everton, as when at centre-back he had a tendency to leave space behind. Played at left-back after Tyrell Malacia was substituted.

Tyrell Malacia – 6/10: Did alright and produced a tackle to win the ball as it looked like Alex Iwobi was getting past him but unfortunately for the Everton man, he had to be stretched off in pain. Hopefully the injury is not too serious.

Casemiro – 7/10: Started the game well and played his part in the opening goal with his quick pass to Anthony Martial. He regularly broke up Everton attacks with his tackling.

Christian Eriksen – 6/10: Everton did not allow the Dane to dictate the tempo of the game but he came close to scoring with a left foot screamer that just flew over the crossbar.

Antony – 7/10: Scored the opening goal of the game in the fourth minute and produced good moments of skill. A good performance and showed mental resilience after being by targeted by certain people on social media.

Bruno Fernandes – 6/10: Wasn’t his best display tonight and he looked desperate to score as he had a shot from 25 yards out and miscued a shot late in the game.

Marcus Rashford – 8/10: Was brilliant throughout with his direct running, which caused Everton problems. Had a hand in the opening two goals that United scored and converted a stoppage time penalty.

Anthony Martial – 7/10: Good movements and he did well for the opening goal of the game. He dropped to help his teammates, which did not go unnoticed. Needs a goal soon for his confidence, which will hopefully come.

Fred – 6/10: Recovered the ball well in midfield and his energy was important to help United see off any Everton threat.

Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10: Helped United win a penalty that was converted by the in-form Rashford.

Lisandro Martinez – 6/10: – Looked solid as he helped see the ball out of play. Should start against Charlton as ten Hag looks will probably look to get him a full 90 minute game before the huge fixtures coming up.

Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay: N/A.
