With a plethora of names already mentioned, over the past few weeks, as to who Manchester United will bring to the club, this summer, to fill the void at the heart of the defence, one name is now starting to come to the fore.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United firmly believe that they can win the race to sign the Leicester City centre-back, Harry Maguire, in the process holding off the attempts of Manchester City in getting their man.
But is all as it seems when it comes to this proposed deal?
I ask because elsewhere in the media, the same source, the Daily Mail, effectively rules out Maguire moving to Manchester City as our near-neighbours are not willing to pay the asking price mentioned by Leicester City.
But things, if you dig deeper, get better, the same source, the Daily Mail, earlier this week, ran an article effectively suggesting that Maguire would snub a move to Manchester United in favour of a move to Manchester City.
Intriguing I think you’ll agree.
So, why are Manchester City reluctant to do a deal?
Well, our source explains that our neighbours are not willing to cough up £90 million for Maguire.
Therefore, reading between the lines, can we expect, if Manchester United do a deal for the player, to see Maguire spectacularly enthuse that signing for United is the best thing that’s happened to him?
