No England Return For Scholes

According to Vital England, Paul Scholes, in spite of his past glorious, is a definite no go for the World Cup this summer.

Vital England says: Paul Scholes, like his teammate Neville, has, without a doubt, also been one of the greatest footballers of his generation – he is right up there with the best ever midfielders that Man United or England have produced with it being a shame that he decided to end his international career so many years ago. That though has ‘probably’ extended the longevity of his club career though. Calls for him to be recalled by Sir Geoff Hurst are probably the strangest ones of all the calls for ‘veterans’ or ‘crocks’ to be included that have been given and I cannot see this happen, nor would I, in many ways, want it too.

It is all very well Sir Geoff saying Capello ‘should include him in his squad,’ yet what he seems to be forgetting is the fact that the 35-year-old has made it clear time after time that he will not be coming out of international retirement so it is not that easy!

Scholes has had another decent season, although – and I know I do not see him week-in-week-out – I think he, and Man United fans, would admit that as good as he has been he is not the player he was. Yep, he seems to, from what I have seen, come into form at the right time, so again taking form player is a must, but I do not really think we are lacking enough in midfield to warrant calling the guy out of international retirement so I think this is a no go from all angles…
