Manchester City have loaned out Marton Fulop from Sunderland for the last three Premier League games of the season after Shay Given picked up an injury at the Emirates on Saturday. They have been given special dispensation by the Premier League as it’s an emergency situation.
Oh yes, the world’s richest club loses its number one goalkeeper and suddenly they need an emergency loan. But why are they allowed to get what they want? Manchester City have NINE keepers on professional contracts. Of these nine, Shay Given, Stuart Taylor and David Gonzalez Giraldo are injured while Joe Hart is on loan at Birmingham City.
That’s only four. They have five other keepers, including 23-year-old Faroese keeper Nielsen who replaced Given at the Emirates, two 19-year-olds, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old German goalkeeper who is supposed to be a huge talent. But no, this is Manchester City, they cannot have a youngster who is not even a full international on the bench – they need to sign another keeper.
You know what? We only have Dimitar Berbatov up front as Rooney and Owen are injured so we should try and loan out Darren Bent. Why not? Otherwise we might be forced to have an 18-year-old, relatively unproven talent on the bench!
