Back in the days when the days when the summer transfer window was open, Manchester United were heavily linked with the French striker, Antoine Griezmann.

At one stage it seemed that Manchester United were happy to pay the buy-out clause in the Atletico Madrid strikers contract and a deal was nailed-on to be done.

But it didn`t happen!

Manchester United, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic side-lined for a considerable period, switched targets and signed Romelu Lukaku.

However, it seems that Manchester United are still interested in 26-year-old Griezmann with the news vehicle the Express, carrying an interesting insinuation.

Our referenced source is championing the suggestion that Jose Mourinho has urged Manchester United`s owners to release the funds to buy the striker.

Now whether the owners are complaint with Jose`s wishes remains to be seen.

But, here at Vital Manchester United we`ll monitor the situation and report back as deemed necessary.

Sorry to be so pessimistic but I can’t see Man United signing any players this month and we will continue on our downward spiral under Jose due to his negative tactics, although I sincerely hope I’m wrong but why would any top player want to play his predictable, boring slow style of football that is so easy to defend against. We desperately need genuine goal scorers as the ones we got now can’t seem to hit a cows arse with a banjo from a foot away. They are either shooting high, wide or straight at the opposing keeper and/or worse still taking too long in firing at goal and end up losing possession all to easily. This is simply not good enough from Manchester United.
