It Was Far From Magical United As They Struggle To Make An Impact In A Drab FA Cup Tie

What is it they say about the magic of the FA Cup?

Well, whatever they say, there was nothing magical about the dirge served up at Molineux on Saturday evening as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United served up a 0-0 bore draw.

Quite how I managed to stay awake, as Manchester United failed to register a single shot on target all game beggars belief.

But, as they say, the 0-0 draw allows a much-changed Manchester United side to fight another day, something ole Gunnar Solksjaer was appreciative of in his post-match interview.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Ole had this to say about the game:

“I’m happier to be in the replay than going out – it’s a tough place to come.

“They had chances – Sergio Romero made some great saves and we got off the hook with the header. Sergio has never let us down, he’s kept so many clean sheets. He is a fantastic human being and a top professional.

“He’s putting pressure on David de Gea and that’s what we want. We want the best players in the world here.

“It’s a competition I love. It’s a fair result that we are both still in the cup.”

It probably was but is it too much to hope that the replay, in 10 days time, is a far more entertaining affair!
