Marcel Sabitzer was impressive when he came on a second half substitute during Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford.
United beat Palace, thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes before Palace got one back through Jeffrey Schlupp, however, United held on for the win to secure all three points, and it is safe to say that Sabizter impressed as he came on for Antony in the 81st minute.
Sabitzer, who joined United from Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season, was efficient when he had the ball and when he was required to defend, he got stuck in as he helped United see out what was a nervy last 15 minutes or so.

What was also noticeable from the former RB Leipzig man’s performance was just how clever he was when defending because he positioned himself in a way that allowed him to block off the passing lanes that Palace looked to open up.
You can argue that Sabitzer’s passing was clever as well as amidst all the tension in the stadium, the Austrian international was calm in possession and he should never have been given a foul in the closing stages as he won the ball cleanly and set Marcus Rashford on his way.
Such was the impressive cameo from the Austrian, I would not be surprised if United were to turn the deal into a permanent one, however, he will need to produce those kind of displays on a regular basis. Nevertheless, it was a fine display and one that got the United fans excited of what he can offer going forward.
With Leeds United to come on Wednesday night at Old Trafford, it would not be a surprise to see the United number 15 start that game, and if that cameo is anything to go by, then Erik ten Hag’s side are in good hands for the visit of Leeds.
