It’s being reported today that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Manchester United have now opened talks over a second contract at Old Trafford.

The 35 year old Swedish international is a free agent following the expiry of his deal with United at the end of last season, and Sky’s Italian counterparts are reporting today that talks have now reopened with the club about the potential for a fresh deal.

Sky say that with Ibrahimovic working his way back to fitness now following the cruciate knee ligament injury he sustained in April, he’s now assessing his future properly knowing which offers are on the table, and whilst there’s no guarantee the talks will come to anything at least they are happening.

Jose Mourinho has previously said the signing of Romelu Lukaku does not hinder a deal for Ibrahimovic and he was happy to wait for talks.

‘Why not wait for such a good player that gave us so much?’

And he has been working at Carrington so the opening is certainly there so we’ll have to see if anything comes of it.
