Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera have both been giving their thoughts following last night’s two one Super Cup loss to Real Madrid.

Having trailed two nil until Romelu Lukaku found the net in the second half, Matic knew it had been a disappointing night for the club out in Skopje but he had seen enough from Lukaku to know that he’d be a real threat for us this season in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media post game, he explained.

‘It`s very important for us that our strikers score goals. It`s very important for confidence. As you know he missed a very good chance but this can happen – it`s football. But I am happy for him that he scored a goal after that and I`m sure that he will continue to score goals and that he will score many this season.’

With this game out of the way, all attentions now turn to the Premier League kick off and West Ham who travel to Old Trafford this Sunday.

‘We tried everything to equalise and then to win the game. But they are very experienced and they also had some chances to score another because at the end we tried to go with everything to score and they had some counter-attacks. On Sunday we have a very important game at Old Trafford in front of all our supporters. We have tomorrow to rest and to be ready for West Ham.’

As for Herrera, he said in his own interview that the defeat hadn’t dampened his belief that United would challenge on all fronts this year.

‘We have to accept Real deserve to be the winners. But we can take a lot of good things from this game. The Premier League starts on Sunday, there is no time to be upset, we want to be contenders for the title and we want to fight for every title this season. Last season, we won three trophies which is very good, but we didn’t fight for the Premier League. That’s our aim for this season and we have a very good squad. We are going to play in four competitions and we want to fight for all of them. In every position, we have two very good players, so I am optimistic for this season and let`s forget about tonight. I know it’s difficult because it’s a European trophy and that’s important for the club. But now the Premier League, then the Champions League will come, the FA Cup and the League Cup. We don’t want to give away any competition. We are going to fight for all of them and we are going to improve.’

He went on to add.

‘We are ready and West Ham will be ready as well, because they have also played a pre-season and surely they are going to be fit as well. But we are playing at Old Trafford in front of our fans and we want to win the first game of the season. We have to respect them because they have a very good team, they have signed very good players. This season, I think the transfer window has gone good for them. They are going to be difficult to beat. Now is our chance to fight for the Premier League and we have to do it as well.’

I believe we should’nt do this anymore, rather from the start of the game: we should always fight to win as if we are one or two goals down and not much time.
