Daily Star: Apple interested in United

|

Reports today have suggested that the technology company Apple are interested in buying Manchester United from the  Glazer family.

This is after the Glazers decided to announce that they will take an alternative approach to sell the club, “the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the Company.” [manutd.com]

The fee that is being reported by the Daily Star is £5.8 billion to take over the Red Devils, with the Glazers wanting to sell to the highest bidder.

The company that was started by Steve Jobs is now worth $2 trillion and at one stage hit the $3 trillion mark, as it is the second most expensive company in the world behind the Saudi Arabia company Aramco.[GOBankingRates]

The current CEO of apple Tim Cooke is lining up talks with banks in America and will try and get the Raine Group involved.

The Raine Group is a merchant bank which provides a diverse range of advisory services and its headquarters are based in New York.

If these reports are right and Apple are interested no other clubs in the world would be on United’s value level as it would make Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and newly bought Newcastle United all minnow clubs compared to United.

Other companies are also interested in buying Manchester United including Amazon, and Dubai investment group and the Saudi Arabia sports minister has come out today and said he would “definitely support” bids from the Saudi Arabia private sector.
