Exiting the Champions League, at the last-16 stage, wasn`t in the script for the 2017 / 2018 season.

Falling so early in the competition could have ramifications for the club.

This morning, the media is littered with negative press relating to the club.

The first piece we stumbled upon comes courtesy of the red-top publication, The Mirror which leads with the suggestion that Jose Mourinho could be heading for a clash with the clubs hierarchy with regards to the summer transfer budget.

This particular referenced source concludes with the inference that any clash could see Paris Saint-Germain attempt to prise Mourinho away from Old Trafford.

The second piece we stumbled upon, courtesy of the Daily Mail, carries a far more sinister suggestion.

This particular referenced source, throws into the mixer the inference that, following Manchester United`s exit from the Champions League, senior figures amongst the clubs hierarchy are, after almost two seasons in charge of the team, questioning whether Jose Mourinho is the right person to manage the club.

The third piece we stumbled upon, courtesy of The Independent, suggests that the early exit from Europe`s top competition could be the signal for a squad overhaul.

This particular referenced source implies that Manchester United are looking to bring in four top-class signings this summer whilst as many as seven of the current under-achieving squad could be jettisoned.

So, concluding, this summer could see a not good enough Jose Mourinho axed and heading for pastures new in romantic Paris having decided which four top-class players Manchester United should sign and which seven of the squad should be moved on.

Don`t you just love the media!
