Casemiro has given an exclusive fan question and answer session to the official club’s website [manutd.com] and a number of topics were discussed as the fans had a number of questions for the United number 18.

Casemiro has enjoyed an excellent start at Old Trafford and has played in an important part in Erik ten Hag’s team this season as in the seven games that he has started in the league for the Reds, Casemiro has only lost once, which was the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa in early November [Transfermarkt.com].

The former Real Madrid man’s best performance in a United shirt came in his first Premier League start, which was the 2-1 win over Everton in early October, where he picked up the Player of the Match award for his excellent midfield performance.

He also got an assist for Ronaldo’s 700th club goal, which ultimately proved to be the winner at Goodison Park.

Casemiro got a taste of the raucous atmosphere that the Manchester United fans generate during the 2-0 win over Tottenham and then three days later at Stamford Bridge, where he scored the equalising goal that sent United fans into uproar and the Brazilian was asked about that moment and how it felt.

“It was a really euphoric moment for me! More than anything down to the situation in the game at the time. We’d been playing really well and were pretty much in control of the game. But then we conceded, and then in the 91st or 92nd minute, I can’t recall just now, I scored that goal, and the ball only just went over the line, and so to be honest I didn’t quite know how to celebrate it. So I was so elated I celebrated the goal with all my heart. I didn’t realise too much what I was doing because it was a goal that came from the heart. It was a fantastic goal for us and so I didn’t really know what to do to celebrate it, the only thing I wanted to do was to celebrate the moment with my team-mates and the fans, because it was very important for us in a game where we’d played very well”, Casemiro told the official Man United website.

Like any Manchester United player, when they sign on that dotted line to officially become a United player, they have ambitions to win trophies and add to the illustrious history of Manchester United, and Casemiro is no different as he wants to win silverware but he is also focus on the here and now, which is to win games for United in the short-term.

“Well at the end of the day, when you go to a club you always want to pick up as many victories and trophies as you possibly can but I’m the kind of person who takes things match by match. I think the key right now is to have a strong and solid team that can compete. Of course, you’re always aiming at winning trophies, but I believe that we have to think about each game as it comes, we’re on a good run of and we’re growing and improving with each game that we play. So that’s how we should be thinking really, I’m not one for looking too far ahead. I prefer to enjoy the present. So I just focus on the next game and of course as a result in the end we all want to win silverware, but I’m the type of player who wants to keep on amassing win after win after win.”

If United are to win and challenge for trophies then Casemiro is extremely important because his simplicity and underrated work both on and off the ball has allowed United to control all but one of the seven Premier League games that he has started, with United recording more possession than their opponents in the games against; Everton (61%), Newcastle (63%), Tottenham (52%), Chelsea (53%), West Ham (53%) and Aston Villa (58%) [Transfermarkt.com].
