I am fortunate today to write on behalf of FC United of Manchester. Vital Manchester United have gave me a bit of air time, so to speak, to test the water. Please bear with me, I’m kind of nervous as this my first gig (or should that be Gigg? We play at Bury for those of you who don’t know)
So, any FC United fans out there craving a bit of info please join the network and leave your comments below.
Or why not mail me at
If enough of you do Vital Football promise to give me a regular turn. If not, then as it stands they have said they will put up with me for two weeks only. I will return to the pubs and club of North Manchester with a face longer than a bitter blue. And you wouldn’t want that would you?
So, my future is in your hands (or keyboard).
OK dear readers, you have a lot to catch up on but here is merely a snippet to whet your appetite.
FCUoM are delighted to announce that the Non-League Paper (NLP) has awarded FC United ‘Club of the Year’ and Rory Patterson ‘Player of the Year’ for Step 6 in its annual awards.
The Club of the Year title is a national award for the whole of non-league football so there were a whole host of worthy candidates this year, which makes winning the accolade extra special.
A number of club officials and playing staff were delighted to receive the awards at a brief presentation at Gigg Lane on Wednesday night and were equally thankful to Sammy McIllroy for taking time to come and present them.
Board member Jules Spencer said: ‘We are made up to receive the NLP’s top award and thank them for honouring us with it, particularly as there are countless of other non-league clubs with a longer history than ours that could lay claim to the title.
‘Teams such as Accrington Stanley who returned to the Football League, or clubs such as Tamworth, Northwich Victoria, Nuneaton Borough and Burton Albion who all reached the third round of the FA Cup. Nonetheless the award caps our own amazing season.’
Want more? Let me know. There’s plenty to catch up on!
