At 35-years-of-age Michael Carrick will be perfectly aware that his career is approaching its final chapter.

The midfielder has been an influential player at Old Trafford since arriving from Tottenham Hotspur.

However, his age dictates that he`s never going to start every game and that his role could revert to that of an impact player or with the club using his versatility to plug gaps left by suspension and injury.

With his current contract coming to an end, the nations` top tabloid, The Sun, is carrying an interesting article this morning.

The tabloid is suggesting that if Michael Carrick wants to remain at Old Trafford for another year then he`ll have to accept a pay-cut.

The source is suggesting that Carrick would have to settle for £70,000 a week, as his salary, still a tidy sum I`d suggest.

But what`s the view from the Vital Manchester United faithful?

Can you see Michael Carrick in the familiar red-shirt of Manchester United next season or will this summer see a parting of the ways?

We`d be interested to read your views in our comments facility.
