The last one must have been a very interesting of a Saturday for Wes Brown. The United defender was suspended for Newcastle United’s visit and therefore he could examine at leisure what his current team does with the side that he’s rumoured to be heading to.

And I can’t help wondering whether his resolution about his move starts to fade away. It was the most emphatic display of the differences between playing for Manchester United and playing for Newcastle United. Wes must have realised that it is unlikely to be fun if he opts to move after all.

It is fitting that the Champions reserved their greatest league display against the side that is the frontrunner for the signature of our very own home-grown, Manchester-born right-back. He was shown what he might lose and where he would head. He must have wondered what would have happened had he played instead of Steven Carr on the right side of Newcastle’s defense.

Now I know that Newcastle or any other mid-table team don’t get humiliated every week. But does Wesley Brown, five-times Premiership champions want to be a part of even one such humiliation when he’s still wanted by his current team that is full of attacking brilliance and are favourites for another Premiership title? It would not be a very wise move to get away from Old Trafford I think.
