Well That’s One Signing We Can Rule Out United Making

|

With the Manchester United support still waiting for news as to whether David de Gea will be our man between the posts next season or will have left, we’ve stumbled across a little something relating to an article we posted a while ago.

Our article, Click Here covered the possibility that the Barcelona back-up keeper, Jasper Cillesen, could be the clubs preferred replacement for the possibly departing Spaniard.

At the time, although many see Sergio Romero as the natural replacement, it was implied that 30-year-old Cillessen would, if the price is right, provide the club with two keepers vying for that one position, a pretty healthy state of affairs.

However, it now doesn’t appear as if that will be the case.

According to the news vehicle, the Daily Mail Barcelona are looking for a massive transfer fee for Cillessen, said to be of the magnitude of £53 million, almost the size of the fee de Gea would command.

Naturally, looking towards the Nou Camp exit to get regular first-team football, Cillessen is far from pleased and has, quite rightly in our opinion, criticised his current employers for the stance they’ve taken.

In concluding, here at Vital Manchester United, we’d be very surprised, at the price quoted, whether Cillessen will be turning up on our doorstep any time in the near future.
