Danny Welbeck’s fine form has further strengthened his claim for a starting place in the England national side.

The 21-year old has netted five times for Manchester United this season and admits he’s aiming to establish himself in the national team’s starting XI. England need to just avoid defeat in Montenegro on Friday night to guarantee their place at Euro 2012, having missed out on the 2008 competition.

Another factor fuelling Welbeck’s desire is the possibility of teaming up with his United strike partner Wayne Rooney. The two have enjoyed a prolific partnership so far and the young forward, whose only senior cap came in the 1-1 draw with Ghana back in March, says both club and country can benefit from the two playing up top.
