Rumours resurfaced about Nemanja Vidic’s alleged desire to move to Spain – more precisely, about his wife’s yearning for warmer climates. His agent allegedly told a Catalan radio station that Vidic was keen on a move to Barcelona.

The claims were swiftly denied but many believe there is truth in the rumours. However, it is not gonna happen, even if Ana Vidic is indeed fed up with gloomy England. Quite simply, there is no replacement available on the market at the moment so Vidic won’t be allowed to leave, even if he begs to do so.

But he’s much more professional than that. A transfer could happen in the future but not now when we have no chance to replace one of the most important players of the team, which is already short on the kind of quality required to win the league for the fourth time in a row.

And as for those who attribute Vidic’s current absence to something more sinister than an injury – I’d say forget it. He’s not that type of player. If he’s told to stay – and he was told that, I’m sure – he would accept it and play, with the same determination and commitment that we come to expect of him. End of story.
