Back in January it was announced that Nemanja Vidic had parted company with Inter Milan, by mutual consent.
It had been suggested that the Serbian, now thirty-four years of age, might be making a return to the Premier League with beleaguered Aston Villa being mentioned as one possible destination.
Unfortunately, it doesn`t seem as that will be the case with Vidic announcing today that he has now official retired as a player.
Talking to the official Manchester United site, Vidic is quoted as having remarked,
‘The time has come for me to hang up my boots.
“The injuries I have had in the last few years have taken their toll.
‘I would like to thank all the players I have played with, all the managers and staff I have worked with, and say a big ‘thank you’ to the fans for their support over the years.’
And we`d like to thank you Nemanja for everything you did for us during your time with us, a legend in my eyes.
