Probably a little later than it should have been reported, courtesy of being laid up with a stomach bug, there are some positive words filtering through from our Dutch striker, Robin van Persie.
Like several unofficial sites, we`ve been picking up on the negative vibes doing the rounds, vibes that suggested Van Persie might be a little disenchanted with life at Old Trafford.
Well, bursting out from the newspapers yesterday was a completely different intimation with the Dutch striker inferring that he`d like to extend his current contract with Manchester United, remarking,
“The truth is I`m very happy here. I signed for four years and I`d be delighted to stay even longer – beyond the next two years I have left on my contract.”
“I`m very happy with my team-mates and I`m very happy with my manager and his staff.”
“The training sessions we have are fantastic and I`m learning a lot from them every day.”
“I`ve been a professional footballer for 12 years now and there`s no doubt I`m leaning new things and progressing with David Moyes.”
“I`ve worked with some brilliant coaches and I can tell you Moyes` sessions and the things he says are spot-on.”
“There is mutual respect between us and I`m sure we will turn our season around.”
Absolutely fascinating and if I hadn`t of spent the last twenty-four hours flat on my back I might have gone for a lie-down to let those words sink in.
