Although the cost could be described as significant, the summer acquisition of a certain Robin van Persie could well be looked at as the best transfer of the summer.

When he approached Arsenal about taking Van Persie to Old Trafford, there were some who reckoned that Van Persie could be injury prone. His record at Arsenal indicated that there was justification.

However, it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson has alleviated that problem by turning Van Persie into an out-and-out striker.

The move has paid dividends with Van Persie now past the 20 goal mark for the season and leading the Premier League scoring charts.

But, in doing so, another statistic has come to light.

It would seem that Robin van Persie is the first player in Premier League history to score more than 10 away goals in three consecutive Premier League seasons.

Quite an achievement I think you`ll agree
