When a story appears in one of the many tabloid publications this country produces, it can, sometimes, be taken with a pinch of salt.

However, when an article appears in one of the, how you might say, more solid publications, there is more often than not an element of truth about it.

This morning, in that bastion of British newspapers, The Observer, it is reported that Louis van Gaal has most definitely expressed a desire to bring one Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.

Although Pogba was let go on a free, when his contract expired, the 22-year-old has clearly demonstrated, whilst playing for Juventus in Serie A and also helping the Turin based club to the final of the Champions League, that he is a must have player.

Juventus have previously stipulated that a fee, somewhere in the region of £60 million would be needed to lure him away from Turin, no whether United are prepared to stretch the purse strings that far to bring Pogba back remains to be seen.

But when the story appears in The Observer, I`d say there`s no smoke without fire!
