United’s Transfer Ambitions May Be Thwarted By The Summer Window Inactivity

|

If I were to be brutally honest, I’d have to say I was disappointed with the quantity of our summer transfer window signings.

Now I’m not doubting the quality of those brought in but with the club having fallen so far behind Manchester City and Liverpool when it comes to challenging for the Premier League title, I expected more.

With the summer transfer window having been closed for quite a while, the January transfer window now becomes the next option, but will Manchester United grab the bull by the horns and bring in some more talent.

According to ESPN, that may not be the case.

Instead, our referenced source is of the opinion that we may have to wait until next summer before any big deals are done and, furthermore, it appears that Manchester United will following the same mandate, targeting young British players.

Two names mentioned by our quoted source are James Maddison (Leicester City) and Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund).

My view is that both would be marvellous acquisitions but there is a real danger that, if we don’t finish in the top-four this season, one or both would be reluctant to sign for a club that cannot offer Champions League football.

Which brings me back to the recently closed summer transfer window and our lack of signings……..could it come back to haunt us?
