Whilst the team we considered to be our closest rivals for the title, Chelsea, continue to fall by the wayside, it`s becoming clearer and clearer that our larger squad is the reason why.

Chelsea stripped their squad to be lean and mean last summer but have been found out, the first choice eleven might be immense (on their day) but the youngsters are not filling in when called upon.

Michael Carrick has noticed this and on the eve of our trip to play Birmingham City, spoke to the media about it, commenting,

“It`s vital. When you`re going into games with the same players week-in, week-out, you can last for so long but then it can catch up on you. The experience that the boss and the coaches have of winning titles and Champions Leagues is a big advantage.”

“Over Christmas the games come thick and fast.”

“Having the option of rotating it and playing people in form, that keeps everyone fresh, so they`re at their best.”

“It`s been a good season so far and there`s still more to come – both from the team and me personally.”

“There have been ups and downs, good results and performances, and some others that slipped away. But we`re in a good position.”

We sure are and a win tonight would cement our position as front-runners for the title!
