With Jose Mourinho making so many changes to his starting eleven, against Swansea City in the EFL Cup 4th round tie, we expected to see the name of Luke Shaw in the line-up.

But when the team-sheet was revealed, Shaw was conspicuous by his absence from the starting eleven, with the 22-year-old having to be content with a place on the bench.

In a game that United comfortably won, Shaw was introduced as a late, late substitute, getting just a fleeting glimpse of the action.

It remains to be seen whether Shaw has a long-term future at Old Trafford but reports published in the Guardian, suggest the player doesn`t believe he has a United future.

In the reference article, it is implied that Shaw`s relationship with Jose Mourinho has broken down.

In another news source, The Times, this inference is somewhat compounded with it being reported by this esteemed publication that Shaw and Mourinho`s relationship has deteriorated to such an extent that the pair are not even on speaking terms.

Could January and the opening of the transfer window be the end of the road for Luke Shaw at Old Trafford?
