Forced to train with the U23 squad and with rumours that he`s been asked to clear his locker out at the first team training facility, these are unfamiliar times for Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 32-year-old German, signed from Bayern Munich last summer, has been decreed as surplus to requirements by the boss, even though he still has two years left on the contract he signed last summer.

However, speculation appearing in the media, something covered by Sky Sports, Click Here, suggests that Bastian could be set for a very surprising return to the Allianz Arena.

Our referenced source is reporting that when Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was asked whether an emotional return to Bayern Munich could be on the cards, is said to have replied,

“Should he speak at some point about a desire to return, then we will discuss it with him.”

Now whether Manchester United would receive a similar fee to that which they paid Bayern Munich for his services last summer is debatable.

We`ll keep a watchful eye out for any further information.
