Even during the days when Jose Mourinho was sat in the Old Trafford hot-seat, there was the talk of the Inter Milan forward, Ivan Perisic joining Manchester United.
It seems that is still the case and, furthermore, a deal could well be nearer to being completed than has been suggested before.
Lurking in the Italian media source, calciomercato, is the insinuation that Inter Milan are now prepared to sell the 29-year-old Croatian international.
Our referenced source is championing the suggestion that the Serie A side are prepared to sell their asset in order to generate funds to make an audacious bid for the current Balon d’Or winner, Luka Modric.
Now whether Real Madrid are willing to be part of the audacious plans Inter Milan have I’m, not party to, but, seriously, can you see them selling Modric at a time when they are struggling to regain their position at the pinnacle of Spanish football?
I certainly can’t.
Therefore, I wouldn’t be, at the moment, too confident that the long wait to sign Perisic is almost over.
