The tabloid press, this weekend, insinuated that Louis van Gaal had identified Seamus Coleman as a summer transfer target.

The inference being that Manchester United were ready to test Everton`s resolve to hang on to the Irish international defender by dangling a cheque, said to be in the region of, £20 million for the 26-year-old right back.

However, it seems that, unless Everton change their mind or Manchester United up the bid to a amount whereby Everton cannot say no, we`re wasting our time.

Apparently, Everton`s resolve was tested in the January transfer window when Chelsea tried to buy the player and they simply brushed aside the offer.

Coleman, so the story goes, didn`t want to leave the north-west and also has no desire to leave Everton Football Club with an inside source quoted, in the tabloid press this morning, as having remarked,

“Seamus is very content while we don`t need to sell.”

Like I said, unless Manchester United make a huge offer that Everton can`t resist, we`re wasting our time and it is time to look elsewhere!
