Earlier this week we ran an article whereby we commented on the fact that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to rest his World Cup players for 28 days after the tournament, for them, ends.

We mentioned that we thought there would be certain exceptions if, for example, England did well. We didn`t think that we`d start the new season without the likes of Rooney and Ferdinand.

Well apparently we will.

If England go all the way and reach the final, the United England players will still be given 28 days rest which would mean that they would not report back for cub duty until a week before the Premier League season, a point emphasised by Sir Alex who is quoted in the media this morning, as saying,

“We will give the players 28 days off after their last game so I intend to start the season without them.”

Now I wonder if other sides are thinking along similar lines?
