It looks like negotiate could be the buzz word.
Last week, with speculation rife that Chris Smalling wanted to make his season-long loan deal, to Roma, a permanent one, as covered by The Bleacher Report, here at Vital Manchester United, we opted to use our poll facility to ask the pertinent question:
Should United Grant Smalling’s Wish To Join Roma On A Permanent Basis?
The response, with 70% opting for the YES option, was very emphatic.
However, it seems that before such a deal can happen, there may be some serious negotiations to do.
According to Football Italia Manchester United are looking for a fee of circa £25 million for the former England defender.
Although Roma are keen to make the deal a permanent one, it seems they’re not preparing to pay that amount of money for him.
I believe a compromise will be met with Roma and United agreeing on a fee somewhere around the £22 million mark.
But, as is the norm, we’ll endeavour to keep our noses to the ground in case there are any further developments.
