One of the most unusual takes on the Nani controversial goal incident this weekend comes from Darren Fletcher.

Now I love Fletcher to bits but even I can`t help feeling he`s an ideal candidate for Specsavers when he remarks, in the aftermath of the incident,

“I thought it was a penalty straight away. I know the referee didn`t blow, he was just telling Nani to get up and play on.”

“I don`t know if their goalkeeper thought he gave a foul for simulation, but Nani has got up and stuck it in the back of the net.”

“It`s one of those situations where no one knows what happens. But Nani has done his job and had to score. If the referee doesn`t give the free kick, then the ball is in play.”

“You are always taught to play to the whistle and that is just what Nani has done.”

Right! Who wants to tell Darren about the blatant handball we got away with?
