Here are the marks for United players after today’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Edwin van der Sar: Had nothing to do, nothing at all. Chelsea could not trouble him in the first half hour so what chance did they stand with ten men? None at all. 6

Wes Brown: Solid defensive display and got forward well, playing a part in the first goal. 7

Rio Ferdinand: Confident and relaxed throughout the game though it’s true he did not face much difficulties. 7

Nemanja Vidic: Solid and reliable as ever. 7

Patrice Evra: Should have won a penalty and John Obi Mikel was sent off after a challenge on him. Should have got forward more often. 6

Cristiano Ronaldo: Not his best game but he was a threat to Chelsea. Malouda and Ashley Cole were both playing deep to deny him and they were largely successful. 6

Michael Carrick: A very, very good display. Tackled a lot and at least two of his passes should have ended with a goal, only his teammates wasted the chances. Man of the match methinks. 8

Paul Scholes: Not bad but should have been a bit more courageous with his passing. He always chose the safety option. 6

Ryan Giggs: Could have scored two so he’s guilty of profligate finishing but his assist was of real quality. 7

Carlos Tévez: Well-taken goal, full of running, always a threat. His best game yet. 7

Wayne Rooney: Frustrated throughout and lucky not to sent off. Should have opened the scoring with a brilliant curling effort though. 6

Louis Saha: Won a penalty, converted it and could have scored another. He missed that chance and his fall was too theatrical for a better mark than 6.
