Tomasz Kuszczak: Made several good saves as Bolton’s long-range shooting was a source of trouble all evening. Fine display. 7

Owen Hargreaves: Did his job at right-back. Should have gone forward more often, using his dynamism but this safety-first approach worked reasonably. 7

Gerard Pique: Solid, made the right decisions, kept it simple. 6

Nemanja Vidic: Once again he was unbreachable, a one-man wall. We lost our shape a bit in defence when he had to go off with that bleeding nose. 7

John O’Shea: He’s still a useful, reliable full-back if necessary. Nothing spectacular but no mistakes either. 6

Cristiano Ronaldo: Won the game for us, simple as that. Constant menace and surpassed George Best’s record. 8

Darren Fletcher: Solid but unspectacular, I though he played too deep. Should have asserted himself. 6

Anderson: Our midfield magician had an alarmingly poor game. For the first time in weeks, I’m not sure if he should start along Hargreaves against Liverpool as Carrick is in a much better form. 5

Luis Nani: Tricks as always, offered penetration but often too selfish. His decision-making must improve. 6

Carlos Tevez: Full of running and a serious threat on goal. However, he missed his chances which never reflects well on a striker… 7

Louis Saha: As the focal point of the attack, he did well. Should have offered more in front of goal, he was often nowhere to be seen in the box. 6

Wes Brown: Not much impact, settled in well after replacing Vidic. 6

Wayne Rooney: Nothing spectacular, it’s just that his introduction resulted in United taking control again. A wonderfull pass to Tevez should have resulted in a goal. 7

Paul Scholes: He demonstrated how useful he can be as an impact substitute. His passing brought shape into a disjointed midfield and in the 20 minutes he was on the pitch we should have put one or two more past Bolton. 7
