United trio looking to feature for Brazil tonight

|

After seven Manchester United players made it through to the quarter final stage, today’s World Cup action will see if Casemiro can join them as his Brazil side take on South Korea at Stadium 974 in Doha.

Casemiro’s Brazil won two games in the group stages after they beat Serbia 2-0 and Switzerland 1-0, which was the game in which Casemiro scored the winner. Brazil lost their final game against Cameroon 1-0 after a last minute winner from Vincent Aboubakar, but Tite did make a number of wholesale changes in order to rest his players for the knockout stages.

Casemiro was one of those players that was given a rest in Brazil’s final group game and it is likely that he will start tonight for Brazil as they look to return to winning ways and put down a marker, just like some of the big nations have done so far.

The loss to Cameroon showed just how important Casemiro is to the Brazil team because of his ability to keep it simple, as well as winning the ball quickly off the opposition. These characteristics of Casemiro allow Brazil to dominate and control the game and not worry about turnovers as they know that he is a smart player, who can break up play when needed.

Antony and Fred are the two other Man United players who will be hoping to feature tonight for the five-time World champions, however, Alex Telles will no longer feature in the World Cup as he has gone home due to an injury he suffered in the 1-0 defeat to Cameroon [The Guardian].

The game between Brazil and South Korea will kick off at 7pm UK time and the winner of this clash will play the winner of Japan and Croatia, which kicks off at 3pm UK time at the Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar.
