United training camp squad named

Manchester United have officially confirmed the playing squad that will travel to Spain for the winter training campaign and the two friendlies that United have lined up in Spain, where they will face Cadiz and Real Betis.

With a host of regular first team players not available due to their participation in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Erik ten Hag has still managed to name a squad with valuable experience, along with some hot academy prospects, which can be seen below.

Two full-backs, who have had a length lay-off make a welcome return to the United squad as Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams will be with the travelling party to Spain, which is a positive boost for both.

However, there are two players that do not make the squad and that is Axel Tuanzebe, who is on an individualised training programme the club say [manutd.com]. Jadon Sancho is also on an individual training programme “as part of a process to get back to his highest level. The club is fully supporting him in this”, said the club on the official website when confirming the travelling squad to Spain [manutd.com].

United will need to hit the group running and this training camp and the two friendlies will be ideal to do this because United’s next competitive fixture will come just three days after the World Cup final, which is a clash against Burnley at Old Trafford on 21st December in the Carabao Cup.

Two days after Christmas, Man United will have a game against Nottingham Forest under the lights at Old Trafford and because of the World Cup taking place in the middle of the season, it means that the second half of the season will be truncated, so therefore, the players will need to get themselves back to a good fitness base so that United can go far in all four competitions.
