Already, he had proved that he is just as effective at playing as a central defender as well as the holding midfielder and is also becoming embroiled in a tug-of-war at international level with Gareth Southgate looking to lure him to the England set-up after the youngster has already played for the Republic of Ireland in non-competitive games.
Transfer windows come and go, transfer speculation is always rife, but I’d just love it, as Kevin Keegan once uttered, if Manchester United could seal this deal.
