As the dust settles on the shenanigans of last week, Sir Alex Ferguson has given a brief insight into where he feels the blame lies.

Keen to protect the player who did a dramatic u-turn, Sir Alex has focused on those leeches that attach themselves to professionals these days and call themselves agents.

Taking a swipe, quite possibly, at Wayne`s agent (Paul Stretford), has Sir Alex implied that the difficulties encountered were all down to his influence when he`s quoted as having remarked,

“When your top players come towards the end of their contracts you have to do something to get them a new one. They are all the same.”

“You have to deal with agents, which is difficult.”

“The players are no problem, it`s just some agents are difficult.”

I suspect his words, given half the chance, might well have been a little fruitier, but I get the impression Sir Alex is just happy that the matter has been resolved, for now!
